Sevilla 10/11

Tournament specialists Sevilla ensured they are in line to win the competition for an unprecedented seventh time after they got the better of Juventus following a dramatic second leg of their semi-final on Thursday.

They will now have to beat another Serie A team in Roma in the final as Jose Mourinho’s side will be looking to add the trophy to the Europa Conference League they won last season.

Bookmakers anticipate a tight match in Hungary and are finding it difficult to split the teams.

Sevilla know all about the Europa League

Sevilla already have six wins in this competition to their name, which included a hat-trick of victories between 2014 and 2016, and it has provided a great refuge for them in what has been a difficult season.

They have spent most of the campaign at the wrong end of the La Liga table, but while there was a time when there seemed a genuine chance that they would fall into the Segunda, they have been guided to the comfort of mid-table by coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.

They had been pegged back by a late goal from Juve’s Federico Gatti in the first leg of the semi-final after it seemed striker Youssef En-Nesyri’s effort would prove enough for them to take a crucial lead back to Spain.

Juve took a grip on proceedings in the return match when Dusan Vlahovic gave them a 65th-minute lead. However, Suso brought Sevilla back on terms just six minutes later before Erik Lamela fired them into the final with a goal five minutes into extra-time.

Roma in the hunt for another trophy

Roma boss Jose Mourinho is a serial trophy hunter and would love to get his hands on the Europa League after his side fought past Bayer Leverkusen to book their trip to Budapest.

The Giallorossi were knocked out of the semi-finals of this tournament two years ago by Manchester United and ensured they did not make that same mistake again as they held on for a goalless draw on their visit to Germany.

Mourinho previously tasted victory in this competition as United manager in 2017, as well as with Porto in 2003.

He again demonstrated his knowhow for knockout football as he oversaw a typically resolute performance to ensure Roma reached the showpiece in the second leg, after earning a 1-0 victory in the first match at the Stadio Olimpico courtesy of Edoardo Bove’s goal.

Roma are 15/8 to win in 90 minutes on 31st May, with Sevilla 7/4 and the draw 19/10.
