Liverpool priced for a top-four return

Arsenal's return to the top four after a seven-season absence and Newcastle's after a two-decade wait were among the big stories of last season, coinciding with falls from grace for Chelsea, Tottenham and, to a lesser extent, Liverpool.

However, Jurgen Klopp's men, if the prices are right, will be back in the top four in 2023/24, with the German embarking on a summer revamp at Anfield.

The signings of midfield duo Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are positive ones and there are expected to be more new faces through the door this summer, which could see their current 8/15 price of making the top four contract further.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also isn't sitting still as the Spaniard hopes his team, who are 1/2 for a top-four finish, will again be Manchester City's closest challengers.

Kai Havertz has already arrived from Chelsea, Declan Rice will be joining from West Ham in a £100m-plus transfer, while Ajax full-back Jurrien Timber is also close to completing a switch to the Emirates.

The fourth odds-on chance for top-four honours are Manchester United, who improved massively under Erik ten Hag last term and look ready to push on again.

The Red Devils have made a statement summer signing in the shape of Mason Mount from Chelsea and, following the confirmed exit of David De Gea, Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is high on Ten Hag's list of possible alternatives.

European return could hinder Newcastle's prospects

The good times are back at Newcastle after a stunning season under Eddie Howe ended in a fourth-place finish – but that dizzying achievement may well come at a price.

The Toon are preparing for Champions League football and while there isn't a Newcastle fan who would have it the other way, the hectic schedule could easily have a negative effect on their Premier League plans.

Despite having plenty of money to spend, Howe has only made one significant summer signing in the shape of Italy international midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, who has joined for a reported £52 million.

With the competition for the top four places as stiff as ever, the Magpies are a fair price at 6/4 to repeat last year's top-four accomplishment.

London giants not fancied to bring back glory days

Chelsea and Tottenham suffered seasons to forget in 2022/23 - the Blues finishing a miserable 12th and Spurs eighth.

Both clubs have thrown the managerial dice once again with Mauricio Pochettino, once of Tottenham, entering the maelstrom that is Stamford Bridge and, just like his predecessors, he will be tasked with at least finishing fourth in the coming campaign.

Spurs have taken a punt on Ange Postecoglou after the Australian led Celtic to the treble last term.

With Chelsea 5/4 to break back into the top four and Tottenham 10/3, it's clear which of these London rivals are preferred.

Can any lesser lights bridge the gap?

The 2022/23 season was notable for the sheer consistency of the likes of Brighton, Brentford and Fulham and the late emergence under Unai Emery of Aston Villa.

All four finished in the top ten and all four, well managed and clearly improving, would hope to be in the mix for top-six honours. But can they bridge the gap to the top four?

Brighton under Roberto de Zerbi may never have another campaign quite as successful as the last one yet they still finished nine points adrift and, inevitably, clubs from all around Europe are circling the Amex for signings.

Mac Allister has already left for Liverpool and Moises Caicedo could also follow him out of the club before the new campaign begins.

Brighton could be the best of the rest at 11/2 to end up in the top four, while Villa, who are 8/1 shots, will be optimistic of further improvement under Emery and have already made two shrewd summer signings with Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres moving to Villa Park.

How does Top 4 betting work?

Betting on the Premier League top 4 is super easy and simple to understand, as well as being extremely popular among punters, all of whom want to see their teams succeed in the league, with the Champions League places usually being the bar for this.

Teams can finish anywhere between 1st and 4th, to qualify for the top 4 finish.

Winning bets, both single or accumulators, will be paid out either on the final day of the season, when the league placings have been finalised. Or will be paid out as a winner when the teams are mathematically confirmed as top 4 finishers.

This means that they cannot on points or goal difference be knocked out of the top 4 by any of the sides below them.

If you have bet on two, three or all four of the top four finishers, then each leg will be confirmed as a win, as these sides are mathematically confirmed, but the whole bet will only be paid out as a winner, when all the legs are satisfied.
