FA Cup Winner Odds

The betting odds for the 2023/24 FA Cup have been released and, unsurprisingly, holders and treble winners Manchester City head the market.

Preliminary qualifying for the world's oldest cup competition begins in August with the first round proper set for the weekend of November 4th and 5th, 2023.

Clubs in the Premier League and Championship enter the competition in the third round, which will take place on the weekend of January 6th and 7th, 2024.

City too slick in all-Manchester final

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City were superb winners of the FA Cup last season when the only goal they conceded in the cup came in their 2-1 final victory over rival neighbours Manchester United.

City's run to Wembley glory included wins against Chelsea and Arsenal in the third and fourth rounds and Guardiola appears to have solved the squad rotation puzzle that can sometimes hinder the Premier League's elite clubs.

Last season was the first time Manchester United had reached the FA Cup final since 2018 and manager Erik ten Hag will be seeking to build on a promising first season at Old Trafford in which the Red Devils beat Newcastle to win the EFL Cup.

Better expected from big clubs

The beauty of the FA Cup is the randomness of the draw and both Chelsea and Arsenal bumped into the Manchester City juggernaut in the early rounds of last season's competition.

Providing they receive kinder draws in 2023/24, the two London giants should pose threats to City's crown.

Eight-time winners Chelsea last tasted FA Cup success in 2018 but the Blues have reached five of the last seven finals.

They will need to improve after a disappointing 2022/23 Premier League campaign, but with Mauricio Pochettino now steering the ship much better is expected from the west Londoners.

Arsenal, runners-up to City in last season's Premier League title race, are the most successful club in FA Cup history, lifting the trophy on 14 occasions, and they’ve already been active in the summer transfer market, landing Kai Havertz from Chelsea with the promise of more new arrivals.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool were inconsistent last season, as demonstrated by their fourth-round FA Cup exit at Brighton.

Without the distraction of a Champions League campaign in 2023/24, the Reds may be able to focus on domestic success and, having won the EFL and FA Cup double in 2021/22, Liverpool are rightly respected in the market.

Hectic schedules may hinder European hopefuls

Both Newcastle and Aston Villa return to European football this season after impressive 2022/23 campaigns in the Premier League.

However, juggling domestic and European commitments will be a new experience for the Magpies and Villa and they may have to rotate cleverly if they are to go deep in the English cup competitions.

The same will apply to Brighton, who step into the uncharted territory of European competition next term, although the Seagulls reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2022/23 before losing on penalties to Manchester United.

Newcastle, Villa and Brighton will all need to bolster their squads this summer in order to compete on so many different fronts and bid for FA Cup silverware in 2023/24.
